Personal Care Aide (PCA)

A Personal Care Aide, under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, is responsible for assisting patients with non-medical personal care and home management activities (within the limits of the patient’s condition.) The PCA must be able to provide covered services according to the client’s care plan. Job functions may include:

  • Making and changing beds
  • Light household cleaning
  • Shopping
  • Laundry, including necessary ironing and mending
  • Payment of bills and other essential errands
  • Bathing of the client in the bed, the tub, or the shower
  • Dressing and grooming
  • Toileting, which may include assisting the client on and off the bedpan, commode or toilet
  • Assistance with durable medical equipment
  • Walking and transferring from bed to chair or wheelchair
  • Preparing meals
  • Assisting with self administration of medications and medication reminders
  • Providing routine skin care

RN Branch Manager – Cobleskill Office

Responsibilities include guiding, directing, and supervising all staff including nurses, scheduling coordinators, and aides to provide quality services to patients. Must be able to develop relationships to grow services; work closely with administrative and management personnel to implement programs; and attain corporate goals. Familiarity with the region is highly desirable, but not required.

Qualifications:

  • MUST be a licensed, professional Registered Nurse; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; B.S.N. preferred
  • Clinical skills in the area of assessment, planning and implementation of care for patients
  • At least one year in a supervisory/management role
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to listen and direct patient/family interventions
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff members, hospital staff, area physicians and local agencies.

RN Training Manager

Responsible for guiding, directing, conducting and supervising all training and development programs for PCA services including in-services, annual mandatory orientation, and new hire orientation. Will also develop the training curriculum based on DOH health related vocational content materials to meet the needs of adult learners and assist them to successfully obtain certifications as PCAs. This position is based in VNHC’s Menands office, with frequent travel to branch offices to direct training activities.

Qualifications:

  • MUST be a licensed, professional Registered Nurse; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required; B.S.N. preferred
  • Supervision and training experience required; home care experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel frequently
  • Excellent communication skills
